Title: Director of Admissions

Description: The Director of Admissions oversees and directs the recruitment, admission and enrollment process for the school.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Promoting the school, informing referrers, recruiting new students and introducing new families to the school.
- Working with all school constituencies to create a process that thoroughly opens the school to prospective applicants.
- Developing long and short-term recruitment and admissions plans and strategies.
- Developing and implementing a highly personal and proactive enrollment-management program that encompasses the entire admission process.
- Planning and overseeing all admission events.
- Enhancing visibility and outreach into the external community.
- Collaborating with the Development Office in the design, publication and appropriate distribution of the school’s promotional materials.
- Working with the Head of School and Business Manager in the financial aid process.
- Managing the admissions office budget
- Supervise admissions staff
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant admissions office experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience in successful outreach to a variety of communities.
- Knowledge of financial aid administration and best practices as needed.
Hours: Mon-Friday 8:30 to 4:30pm. This position requires occasional night and weekend hours to assist with Special Events.
Organization Profile: The Chicago Academy for the Arts is the only independent secondary school in Illinois that offers specialized training in the dance, music, theatre, musical theatre, media arts and visual arts. The school was designated a National School of Distinction by the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Graduates have received college acceptances from such prestigious institutions as The University of Chicago, Yale University, New York University, California Institute of the Arts and Northwestern University. Alumni include actress Lara Flynn Boyle, Hollywood writer/director Adam Rifkin, Alex Wurman (Composer, March of the Penguins), sculptor Michael Ferris and costume designer Catherine Thomas (27 Dresses, Kill Bill). Title: Coordinator of Membership and Special Events

Description: The Coordinator of Membership and Special Events will manage auxiliary volunteer groups to support development fundraising goals. The staff member reports to the Director of Development and also works closely with the Associate Director of Development.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Managing the Arts Academy’s volunteer boards (The Benefit Board, The Parents Association, The Alumni Association)
- Create and manage additional volunteer associations (Past Parents Association or Parents & Friends Association)
- Creating and managing a volunteer program at the school
- Manage event details for fundraising activities (e.g., annual awards luncheon)
- Create and manage cultivation events for Arts Academy parents (e.g., New parents orientation event, “Meet the Head of School” event)
- Other events that create stewardship (e.g., social events for parents)
- Assist the Associate Director of Development with annual fund and major donor projects that support annual fund activities
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Minimum of 1-2 years development, membership, or event experience including direct contact with donors or volunteers
- Ability to be self-directed and manage multiple tasks, working with peers, staff, board members, volunteers and representatives of the funding community
- Strong communication skills and customer service perspective essential
- Strong computer and database skills. Raiser’s Edge experience a plus

Title: Associate Director of Development

Description: The Associate Director of Development will manage annual fund efforts including grantwriting, direct mail, the annual report and donor stewardship. The individual supervises the Development Assistant, oversees the development database and works closely with the Manager of Membership and Events. This position reports to the Director of Development.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Overseeing the creation of materials for year-end and spring annual solicitation mailings
- Developing and executing a grant program for corporate and foundation prospects
- Managing the annual fund calendar (dates, timetables, project status)
- Preparing and managing annual fund budget and reports
- Coordinating database activities (donor updates, prospect lists, merges, etc.) with the Development Assistant
- Responsible for writing key publications (annual report, press materials, scholarship profiles)
- Assist with other development activities as needed (mailings, open houses, donor events, tel-e-thon, budget reconciliations, data entry, etc.)

The Chicago Academy for the Arts High School seeks to fill a full-time Math position for the 2008-2009 school year. Candidates should have a Master’s degree in the relevant content area; however, a Bachelor’s degree is acceptable. A teaching certificate is preferred but not necessary. Salary is commensurate with experience.
