In addition, please join us in honoring Ms. Patricia Rusk, one of the most beloved and important figures in the history of The Academy. At Showcase on February 15, we will present Ms. Rusk with The Academy’s second-annual Faculty Legacy Award.

Ms. Rusk, the Musical Theatre Department’s Chair Emeritus, has been an integral part of The Academy since 1997. Since that time, she has musically directed dozens of shows and accompanied hundreds of students — including students from every department in her now legendary lunch-hour singing classes. Her former students include Grammy Nominee hit songwriter Justin Tranter, Hamilton star José Ramos, numerous Broadway actors, and countless other students forever changed by her teaching, mentorship, and friendship.

In Ms. Rusk’s honor, we are establishing two scholarships: a four-year scholarship for an incoming freshman, and a two-year scholarship for a rising junior.

The Faculty Legacy Award is used each year to recognize a long-serving faculty member for their enormous contribution to our community and culture, and to fund scholarships in their honor. Ms. Rusk is part of The Academy’s heart and soul, and we thank her for everything she has done for us.

Please consider contributing to the Faculty Legacy Award Fund by clicking on the link below. Money raised will be used to create scholarships each year in honor of a transformative faculty member, as well as to award a grant to the teacher directly. Your contribution — small or large — will help us reach our goal of raising $7,000 for the Faculty Legacy Scholarship Honoring Patricia Rusk.
