Dance majors at the Arts Academy take two technique dance classes each day for a weekly total of five ballet classes (including Pointe for girls, Men class, and Partnering) two or three modern dance classes (Graham based) and two in jazz. Ballet and modern dance classes have live accompaniment. The program is designed to maximize each student's individual talent.

World-renowned guest artists and faculty members choreograph works that are performed by the students in an annual concert. Student

choreography is also showcased annually. Additional performance opportunities are afforded students with local professional dance companies such as Luna Negra Dance Theatre and the Joffery Ballet

Graduates of the Dance Department attend the nation’s most competitive conservatories and alumni are currently dancing with the Joffery Ballet, New York City Ballet, Alvin Ailey Company and the Houston Ballet.
