College and Careers
All students begin a thorough college research, selection, and audition preparation process that begins in their junior year. Students are guided step-by-step through (and held accountable for) evaluating their musical abilities and goals, learning how to research different music schools, and preparing for successful auditions.

We realize that not all of our students will have professional careers in music, and that some may even decide against pursuing a music degree in college. How will these students benefit from this program? Our philosophy behind teaching music includes the idea that having certain professional and creative skills will give students a distinct advantage in college and the professional world. The teaching of these skills is embedded in our curriculum and includes learning:

  • how to make, manage, and follow through with commitments
  • how to budget time
  • how to set and follow through with short- and long-term goals
  • how to function as a team player and responsible student
