Musical Theatre is comprised of three disciplines: Dance, Music, and Theatre. Students wishing to excel in Musical Theatre must become a "triple threat" and perform well in all relevant areas of the performing arts.

To become a triple threat, students must learn to master each area of the performing arts. In order to do this, research has shown that when students learn the breadth and depth of one art form they make connections regarding the technical aspects of another art form. Responding to this growing body of evidence, the Arts Academy allows students to select the area of the performing arts to which he/she feels most connected.

This is known as the "area of concentration" and during their freshman and sophomore years students are immersed in the arts discipline of their choice. During their junior and senior years students will take classes in all three arts disciplines. The Musical Theatre program is designed for students not to just perform within three disciplines but to perform well within each discipline.

Students are showcased annually in a spring musical revue, three studio production of book musicals, and a community out reach holiday show. They also may perform in the all school musical which is held in January. All seniors are required to present a senior recital, demonstrating their artistic and technical skill levels in the three disciplines: singing acting and dance.

Graduates attend highly regarded BFA conservatory programs as well as more academic BA programs in Musical Theatre and related fields.
