Chicago Academy for the Arts

Visual Arts majors devote their attention to the technical development of fundamental skills.

Each student takes classes in drawing and design and selects among electives in sculpture, printmaking, and painting. Students participate in intensive figure drawing workshops and showcase their work through professional juried exhibitions, school exhibitions and outside opportunities.

“Arts training needs discipline – it is a challenge that is balanced with support.”
– Qutress Trevino, Graduate, Visual Arts Department
Chicago Academy for the Arts Visual Arts Program

Students in the visual arts department study with professional faculty including a Japan Fulbright Scholar, the recipient of the Distinguished Teacher Award, recipient of an MFA from the American University and a representative from the Frank Lloyd Wright Preservation Trust. Faculty works closely with students through a college preparatory process that emphasizes the complete development of each student’s portfolio. Seniors traditionally garner significant merit awards from the nation’s most competitive arts colleges and our alumni continue their professional arts careers all over the world.
