Anthony Pinto joined the faculty at The Academy in the summer of 2016 from a charter school on Chicago's South Side. He teaches Algebra, Algebra 2, Discrete Math, and Honors Precalculus.
He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 2010 with a degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering. After working for a year in the engineering field, Pinto decided to pursue an inner desire to teach and live abroad by moving to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. While in Vietnam, he taught ESL to students of all ages at an English language school.
Pinto returned to the United States in order to obtain his Master of the Arts degree in Secondary Mathematics Education from the University of Pittsburgh. In the classroom, he strives to create a collaborative learning environment in which students are comfortable taking chances mathematically in order to improve.
