Katie Ernst

Music

Katie Ernst is a bassist, vocalist, and educator from Naperville, IL. She holds a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies and Contemporary Media and a Bachelor of Musical Arts from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY. 

Ms. Ernst has performed at jazz festivals throughout the country including the Chicago Jazz Festival, Rochester International Jazz Festival, and Hyde Park Jazz Festival. She composes, performs, and tours with the band Twin Talk, and has received critical acclaim for her "Little Words" project, an original song cycle inspired by the poetry of Dorothy Parker, which was premiered at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC in 2014. In addition to teaching at Chicago Academy for the Arts, Ms. Ernst currently serves as Jazz Ensemble Director and Lecturer of Jazz Bass at Wheaton College in Wheaton, IL and teaches at the Jazz I Summer Academy at Birch Creek Music Performance Center in Egg Harbor, WI.
