Laura Kaplan earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champagne, a teaching certificate in Secondary Mathematics from Eastern Michigan University, and a Master of Education from Michigan State University.
Kaplan has taught at a variety of prestigious schools including Walter Payton College Prep, Highland Park High School, and Stevenson High School. While at each of these schools, Kaplan participated in Lesson Study and continues to be an active member of the Chicago Lesson Study Group as well as a founding member of the Chicago North Lesson Study Group. When she's not teaching, she is spending time with her husband, two sons, and cat, in Barrington. She enjoys reading and scrapbooking in whatever free time is left after that. She currently teaches Algebra 1, Geometry, Honors Geometry, and Honors Algebra 2.
