Ray Coyle is a mallet player, percussionist, composer and educator.
Ray grew up in Newcastle upon Tyne in England and has a wide experience playing many types of music from contemporary classical recitals to rock and jazz. He has performed extensively in the U.S. and across Europe.
After earning his B.A. in classical percussion from Trinity College London as well as a B.A. in jazz studies from Newcastle College of Arts and Technology, Ray furthered his studies in the Netherlands where he lived and worked for several years, gaining a masters degree in classical percussion performance.
While in the Netherlands he was also able to study with some of the greatest mallet players of our time, namely Keiko Abe, Leigh Howard Stevens, and Dave Samuels.
Ray has written music for film, dance productions, percussion ensemble and solo etudes as well as continuing to write and perform with his own ensemble.
