August graduated from Columbia College Chicago in 2022 with a B.A. in Computer Animation. He comes to The Academy with previous experience working in design and community engagement at Columbia College and Snow City Arts. A longtime advocate for breaking down educational barriers, August is excited for the unique opportunity to continue his work in both arts education as well as the non-profit sector at The Academy.
August Miller brings a vibrant blend of artistic talent and community engagement to his role. A 2022 graduate of Columbia College Chicago, August earned his Bachelor of Arts in Computer Animation, where he honed his skills in multimedia design, color theory, and intricate composition. Originally from Northwest Indiana, he has developed a distinctive artistic voice that explores themes of internal and external forces, often questioning the perception of self through the lens of others. His creative practice spans printmaking, gouache painting, and digital media, reflecting a commitment to both technical excellence and expressive depth.
Before joining The Academy in 2023, August gained valuable experience working in design and community engagement at Columbia College Chicago and Snow City Arts, an award-winning nonprofit that delivers arts education to children in hospitals. His background in these organizations underscores his dedication to breaking down educational barriers and fostering accessibility in arts education. At Snow City Arts, August contributed to programs that integrate arts with academic standards, supporting children’s developmental and educational needs through creative expression in challenging environments.
At The Chicago Academy for the Arts, August leverages his multidisciplinary skills to enhance the institution’s marketing and communications efforts, connecting the Academy’s mission with broader audiences.
