Step 2: SHADOW DAY, Live Audition, and Academic Review

Students who qualify after completing Step 1 are invited to participate in a shadow day, prepare for their live audition, and submit materials for Academic Review. All shadow days and auditions will be in person and are required for admission into The Academy– however, virtual auditions are available upon request for out-of-state and international applicants.

  • Shadow Day

    • Once an applicant qualifies, they will be able to schedule their shadow day with the Admissions Team. Applicants will attend a full day at The Academy (8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) and shadow a student ambassador from their prospective department. This gives them the opportunity to see a typical day of academic and arts classes here at The Academy!

  • Live Audition

    • Live Audition Day: January 24, 2026

      • All priority applicants must complete Step 1 by January 5, 2026 to be considered for this audition date.

    • All auditions will be in person. However, virtual auditions are available upon request for all out-of-state and international students. 

    • See specific audition requirements for each Arts Department on its respective page.

  • Academic Review Materials

    • Priority Deadline: February 9, 2026

    • Documentation for academic requirements will be sent during the application process.

    • Transcripts and attendance records from the applicant’s current year, as well as two years prior. (ex. 9th grade applicant will submit their transcripts for part of 8th grade as well as full year transcripts from 7th and 6th grade.)

    • Student Essays

    • LMAIS Recommendation Letter from current English Teacher

    • LMAIS Recommendation Letter from current Math Teacher

    • LMAIS Recommendation Letter from current Head of School or School Counselor

    • Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE) or Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT) results (ISEE school code: 140627, SSAT school code: 2374)

      • Students who submit a full neuropsychological evaluation from within the past year will not be required to submit ISEE or SSAT scores.

    • Parent/Guardian interview

    • If applicable: any additional documentation (IEP, 504 Plan, neuropsychological evaluation, etc.)
