Sargina Taliya

Sargina Taliya has taught math at The Academy since Fall of 2022. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from The University of Illinois at Chicago, as well as an Illinois teaching certificate in Secondary Education from National Louis University.

Before joining The Academy, Sargina spent six years as a math paraprofessional at Niles North High School, where she discovered her love for building strong connections with students and helping them see their own potential. She believes that learning math is not just about numbers. It’s about problem-solving, confidence-building, and developing a growth mindset that students can carry into every part of their lives.

Known for her approachable teaching style, Sargina creates a classroom environment where students feel valued, challenged, and supported. She’s passionate about getting to know each student as an individual and fostering a sense of belonging, so they feel empowered to take risks and engage deeply in their learning.

Outside the classroom, you can find her exploring new coffee shops, diving into health and wellness topics, or cheering on her students in their artistic  pursuits.
