Gianna Porcelli ’28 Releases Her First Original Album, Back 2U
At the Chicago Academy for the Arts, we celebrate moments when student artistry moves from the classroom into the world — and Gianna Porcelli (class of 2028) just reached a milestone worth applauding.
Gianna has officially released her first full album of all original music, titled Back 2U, now streaming on all major platforms. For a student still early in her high school journey, this achievement is both impressive and deeply emblematic of what’s possible when young artists are given the space, mentorship, and encouragement to find their voice.
Back 2U is a collection of songs written entirely by Gianna, each track shaped by her own lyrics, melodies, and emotional point of view. Creating an album from scratch requires vulnerability, discipline, and creative courage, and Gianna embraced all three. The result is a body of work that feels personal, honest, and confidently her own. Her debut album signals not just technical skill, but a growing artistic identity — one shaped by curiosity, reflection, and a willingness to take creative risks.
This release reflects the Academy’s co-curricular approach in action: rigorous academics alongside immersive, pre-professional arts training that empowers students not just to practice their craft, but to share it with a real audience. Gianna has also had support from her incredible private voice instructors, Alyssa Bennett and Callandra Youngleson.
